Why not use some faux floral stems that you already have?
I’ve been known to trek out to the garden and cut a few snips of evergreen from my shrubs when I didn’t have anything else on hand. Simple and elegant aren’t hard to create.
A Personal Touch
Add a sense of intimacy to your table with a romantic note carefully folded and tucked into the napkin.
Take a moment to make a handcrafted place card, even if it’s just the two of you. The perfect moment to write your pet names!
These little details are what help make it a meaningful evening together.
The Memorable Details
pull chairs out before your partner sits
light the table candles just before serving
put phones away
take your time throughout the meal
serve each course instead of placing everything on the table at once
Small gestures equal big impact.
Elevated Colour Palettes
Something sophisticated always wins over the novelty items we think we need to buy. Look around and see what you have to create some of these classic, elevated colour combinations. If you’ve got red, by all means, put it out.
Blush, ivory and gold

Cream, greenery and candlelight - oooh la la

Affordable Valentine Meal Ideas
You do not need complicated recipes, you need thoughtful ones.
The Starter
We don’t usually have starters for our everyday evening meal. Adding one instantly elevates your menu and tells your loved ones something special is happening. Here are a couple of easy ideas.
Caprese Heart Skewers
Grab a few cherry tomatoes
Slice them on the diagonal and flip one end putting them together to make a little heart - so cute
Skewer with mini mozzarellas (bocconcini) and basil leaves
Drizzle a bit of balsamic/oilive oil mixture over the top
A 6” skewer is the right size
OR
Warm Baguette
Warm a store bought baguette, brush with olive oil and some sea salt - rustic, simple, romantic
The Main
Chicken Parmesan
Grab a couple of chicken breasts and sear them in a pan.
Add some garlic and cook through, then add a bit of cream and some parmesan cheese.
Simmer for 20 minutes, serve over mashed potatoes or pasta with a side of green beans and you’ve got a lovely, indulgent entree.
Dessert
Chocolate Strawberries
The classic chocolate dipped strawberry always wins. 10 minutes and you’re done!
Wash and dry your strawberries, leaving the husk on - looks so pretty and makes a little handle.
Use chocolate chips ( 3/4 cup) and melt in 30 second intervals in the microwave, stirring until they’re melted in about 90 seconds total.
A small bowl lets you dip deep so the berry gets more yummy coverage. Use a toothpick and swirl them in the chocolate.
Set them spaced out on a lined sheet pan.
Best done the day of. Anything before requires refrigeration that causes the chocolate to sweat.
